As of July 1st, 2017, the Cape Elizabeth Fire-Rescue Department added additional staffing to allow for two personnel to be on-duty 24/7/365.
The per-diem program, which started in January of 2012, has proven to be very successful in continuing the high-level of care our citizens deserve. Even though the program started with 8am to 5pm coverage initially (volunteers responded during off hours), the program has driven down response times across the board, a significant change which was noticed just in the first six months.
